15 Days Safari in Kafue, Busanga Plains & South Luangwa National Park

This is a 15 days best of zambia safari taking you for wildlife adventures in Kafue, Busanga Plains and South Luangwa National Park. This safari starts on the north side of Zambia's largest reserve, Kafue National Park and goes to exploring the Busanga Plains and the woodlands around Lufupa, which are so famous for their leopards. It then moves to Zambia's South Luangwa National Park including 4 nights in a remote walking-only area of the park – before returning to a comfortable hotel in Lusaka to relax.

Days 1 - 3: Transfer to Kafue National Park
On your arrival at Lusaka airport, you will be transferred to Kafue National Park by a light aircraft. Meet our safari representative at the airstrip in Kafue and transfer to Lufupa Camp. During this transfer, you may encounter eland, roan and sable. Lufupa Camp is situated in the centre of the northern sector of the 22 500 square kilometre Kafue National Park, at the confluence of the Lufupa and Kafue rivers. The beauty of the park is evident in its diverse habitats with floodplains, miombo woodland, thick riverine vegetation and open grassy areas called dambos. There are resident prides of lion and leopard is frequently seen. Wild dog are occasionally sighted. There is also a wide variety of plains game ranging from zebra, buffalo, roan, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, sable, kudu and impala to the diminutive oribi. Elephant are also often seen roaming through the concession. Dinners and overnights at Lufupa Camp

Days 4 - 6: Head to the Busanga floodplain
After breakfast, depart Lufupa for an early morning game and later head North West of Kafue Park. The Busanga Plains' most dominant antelope species include red lechwe and puku, while buffalo, bushbuck, kudu, oribi, reedbuck, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, sable and roan are also often viewed in this enormous open plains system. There are also hippo and crocodile; however the main plains predators are lion and cheetah and spotted hyena with wild dogs less often seen. Leopard can also be spotted along the wooded tree lines fringing the plains, as well as elephant. Bird life is fantastic, with large flocks of Pelicans, Crowned Cranes and Wattled Crane in the plains at certain times of the year. Dinners and overnights at Musanza Tented Camp

Day 7: Drive to Lunga River Lodge
After an early breakfast, transfer to Lunga River Lodge, enjoying your final game drive on the Busanga Plains as you leave the area and re-enter the Miombo woodland.
The deep and clear Lunga River is the largest tributary of the Kafue River and flows north to south through a mosaic of miombo woodland, riverine woodland and grassy dambos in the north-east of the Kafue National Park. Species like puku and impala are abundant while roan and Lichtenstein's hartebeest occur in lower densities. Viewing of buffalo herds and elephant bulls is good while lion and leopard are regularly encountered. Additional interesting species in the form of yellow baboons and tree hyrax can be found in the vicinity of the camp while a high-density hippo population occurs in the Lunga River. Activities include game drives, walking safaris, guided canoe and boating trips as well as fishing. Night drives provide the added excitement of the nocturnal wonders of the area. Days 8 & 9: En-route to South Luangwa National Park
This morning, you will be transferred by light aircraft back to Lusaka, from where you will connect to a 60-minute flight to Mfuwe Airport, which stands near South Luangwa. You will meet your guide who will transfer you to the remote north side of South Luangwa National Park. You will have 2 overnights at Tafika Camp. Situated instantly outside the Nsefu Sector of the South Park, Tafika offers the unique micro light flights and mountain biking experiences as optional extras to the excellent drives and walks of a routine day. Days 10 & 11
After breakfast and exploring the area around Tafika Camp, you will cross the Luangwa River and head to Chikoko Tree amp. You will carry out Chikoko Walking Trails in the South Luangwa National Park which will be conducted in a very beautiful area, rich in wildlife. It is a wilderness area, free of roads and vehicles. Dinners and overnights at Chikoko Tree Camp

Days 12 & 13
After staying in the wilderness area which is dedicated to walking trails, you will walk over to Crocodile camp which is an intimate, remote bush camp located in the heart of the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. You can carry out walking safari and bird watching due to the fact that the Luangwa is well-known for its excellent bird sightings. Dinners and overnights at Crocodile Bush Camp

Day 14:
Transfer to Mfuwe Airport for a 60-minute flight back to Lusaka.  You will be met by a representative of the Taj Pamodzi hotel, who will drive you through Lusaka for a city tour. You will see Lusaka National Museum, the Political Museum, the Zintu Community Museum, the Freedom Statue, the Zambian National Assembly, the Moore Pottery Factory, the Lusaka Playhouse theatre, the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, a cenotaph, a golf club, the Lusaka Central Sports Club, and the zoo and botanical gardens of the Munda Wanga Environmental Park. Dinner and overnight at Taj Pamodzi Hotel

Day 15: Reserved for departure
Drive to Lusaka Airport to find your departure flight back home.
