What vehicles do you use for your safaris?

We only use Mercedes Benz safari trucks, individually built and self contained with 300 - 400 litre drinking water tanks, long range fuel tanks, tents, camping equipment, tools and spares. All our vehicles have full passenger and company liability insurance underwritten by Lloyd's of London.

How many crew member assists on one safari?
All our African safaris have 3 crew members being the driver, tour leader and safari cook.

Do I have to participate in any chores?

Even though we have a cook on board with us we ask our passengers to participate in the preparation on a rota basis with the cooking.

    What are the meals like?

Meals and menus vary a great deal, but rest assured we have a reputation for our excellent cuisine.

Will there be any facilities at the campsites?

All the campsites we use on route have facilities, although in East Africa some of the campsites are a little more basic than those in Southern Africa.

What is included in the price?

In the actual tour price a fully equipped Mercedes Benz truck, all cooking and camping equipment, driver, courier and cook are included.

What is included in the kitty?

On our trips our communal kitty is quite high, a point we are proud of. It is this fund that covers all our game park fees, as detailed in the individual trips plus a tremendous amount of other excursions. In additions to the above, the kitty covers three meals a day prepared from the truck as well as all the camping fees. At the end of the trip any monies remaining will be refunded back to the clients or used towards the last nights meal.

Do I need a passport or visa?
It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that they are in possession of valid travel documents, including passports, visas, health certificates etc. Africa Travel Co. cannot accept any liability for incorrect documentation.

    Is insurance necessary?

Clients are advised that in many countries there is no free health service, and that the local vehicle insurance is of limited value. Clients must obtain personal travel insurance and are urged to ensure that this is adequate for the full duration of the arrangements, particularly in respect to accident, medical and repatriation expenses. If the client has dependents, insurance to cover these responsibilities is also recommended.
