13 Days Southern Tanzania Safari

Day 1: Arrive at Selous Game Reserve
Arrive at Dar es salaam Airport and board a light aircraft to Selous Game Reserve, the largest conservation area in Tanzania. You will be met and transferred to Rufiji River Camp. This comfortable camp is located on a bend on the river. Crocodile and large pods of hippo may be seen from the bar. You can go on an afternoon boat safari on the Rufiji River. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp/ Sand Rivers Camp

Day 2 - 4: Game viewing in the park
After breakfast, you will have 3 full days of game viewing in the park. You will carry out game viewing activities such as walking and boat safaris, game drives. You may relax at the swimming pool at the camp. You will then return to Rufiji River Camp in time for sunset drinks and another fantastic meal. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp/ Sand Rivers Camp

Day 5 & 6: Transfer to Mikumi National Park
Transfer by light aircraft back to Dar es Salaam, where you will be met by a safari vehicle and transferred to Mikumi National Park, enjoying a packed lunch en-route. On arrival in the park, you will check in at Mikumi Wildlife Lodge. Enjoy the views over the floodplain and go for a sunset game drive. Mikumi is one of Tanzania's larger parks and has excellent bird life as well as being good for viewing predators. On the following day, have an extensive morning game drive that will take you out to Mwanambogo Dam, where many animals come for water. Have a late lunch back at Mikumi Wildlife Lodge, then an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at Mikumi Wildlife Lodge /Vuma Hills

Day 7: En-route to Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, transfer to the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, then hike to Sanje Waterfalls where you can swim in idyllic plunge-pools and camp at the top of a stunning 180m waterfall. The hike is short (2hrs) but quite steep in places. The afternoon is free for you to visit the site of the endemic African Violets and explore the forests and waterfalls. Dinner and overnight at the campsite

Day 8 and 9: Drive to Kisolanza Farm
Wake up early morning to watch the sunrise over the Kilombero Valley, an amazing sight from the natural viewing platform of rock above the waterfalls. Have a late breakfast and later transfer to Kisolanza Farm in the Southern Highlands, arriving in time for lunch. You will have an afternoon excursion visit to Isimila Stone Age Site and Sandstone Pillars. On the following day, you will have waling trails around the farm to provide a chance for bird watching, visit the Forestry Conservation Project if time allows. Dinner will be served at the Old Farm House.

Day 10: Transfer to Ruaha National Park
After breakfast, depart for Ruaha with a packed Lunch. You will reach the lodge in the afternoon, which is constructed on and around a rocky kopje overlooking the Great Ruaha River. Overnight at Mwagusi Safari Camp, Ruhaha River Lodge or Old Campsite No2

Day 11 and 12: Game viewing
You explore the park for 2 full days by 4 wheel drive vehicle, by boat and on foot. The Ruaha River is a scenic delight and a magnet for wildlife in staggering numbers. You will view the Elephant, Hippos, Kudu, eland, giraffe, and dik-dik in abundance. Overnight at Mwagusi Safari Camp, Ruhaha River Lodge or Old Campsite No2

Day 13: Reserved for departure
Transfer by light aircraft to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar.
