Arniston also known by its more official name, Waenhuiskrans, this is an enchanting little fishing village of thatched and limewashed cottages farther along the coast, to the east. The two names given the place have their interest: the Arniston was a British troopship wrecked in the area, with the loss of 372 lives in 1815; Waenshuiskrans translates as 'wagon house cliff', a reference to the huge sea-cavern nearby.

Of interest here, and along the coast, are the giant pods of the Entada Gigas sea-bean, and a number of stone fish-traps built by the 'Strandloper' ('beachranger') people in prehistoric times.
