Step 1.

Johannesburg:

On arrival, collect your 4 x 4 vehicle with camping equipment. National car hire options.

Check into accommodation to be reserved in Johannesburg or Pretoria.

Shop for provisions.

Optional excursions in and around Johannesburg.

Overnight at accommodation of your choice.

Step 2.
Johannesburg – Bela Bela:

Early morning, depart for the Northern Province. Check into accommodation to be reserved in Warmbaths (Bela Bela) or Polokwane.

Overnight at accommodation of your choice.

Step 3.
Francistown:

Depart early morning for Botswana. Cross the border at Martin’s Drift and continue to Francistown. 

Francistown

is the oldest town in Botswana. Its name is derived from an early prospector who was a prominent figure in the area. Check into accommodation to be reserved in Francistown. Overnight at accommodation of your choice

Step 4.
Nxai Pan:

Depart and travel via Nata to Gweta. It is about 4 hour drive. Continue to Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.

Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

is where you will find the famous Baines’ Baobabs. This national park is equally as spectacular as Nxai Pan and being so close to the tar road, is the ideal place for a stop-over en route to the Okavango Delta.

Step 5.
Maun:

After an early morning game drive, continue to Maun, on the edge of the Okavango Delta.

Maun means “the place of short reeds.” The Maun Wildlife Educational Park is worth a visit. It is a small nature reserve which offers game-viewing on foot.

Stock up on fuel and food and drink for the next few days.

Step 6.
Moremi:

Head out for Moremi Game Reserve. You will have ample time for game viewing en route.

Moremi Game Reserve

forms an intrical part of the Okavango Delta, comprising permanently swamped areas, seasonally swamped areas and dryland. It is probably the prime tourist destination in Botswana.

Check into accommodation to be reserved at Moremi Game Reserve.

Step 7.
Moremi:

Spend the day exploring the area and the African wilderness.

Step 8.
Step 8: Chobe

Depart and head north for Chobe National Park. Enter at the Mababe gate. 

Chobe National Park

offers extern contrasts and a variety of wildlife experiences within the confines of one park. It covers a variety of vegetation types and geological features which vary from the almost tropical habitat to severe, desert-like landscapes.

Check into accommodation to be reserved in Chobe National Park.

Step 9.
Chobe:

Spend the day game viewing in Chobe.

Step 10.
Victoria Falls:

Cross into Zimbabwe and continue to Victoria Falls.

Victoria Falls - one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world where the mighty Zambezi with a basalt lip seventeen hundred meters wide before plunging into the gorge below.

Check into accommodation to be reserved in Victoria Falls.

Step 11.
Victoria Falls:

Spend the day at leisure.

Step 12.
Kubu Island
:

Return to Botswana and drive south past Nata to Kubu Island. It is about 500km or at least 6 –7 hours drive.

Along the shores of Sowa Pan are a number of islands or low rocky outcrops, the most spectacular of which is Kubu Island. No words can describe the beauty of the sunsets or the full moon reflecting on the white pans.

Step 13.
Martins Drift:

After breakfast depart and continue south to Serowe and on to Martins Drift where you will enter South Africa again.

Step 14.
Johannesburg:

Depart on the last leg of your journey back to Johannesburg.
