17 DAYS BOTSWANA CAMPING TOUR

TRIP SUMMARY
This safari starts in Botswana and ends in Zambia. It will provide you with a comprehensive and broad traveling experience throughout Botswana; introducing you to one of the oldest cultures in the world, the San Bushman, before enjoying the magical Okavango Delta and exploring Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park and finally the Victoria Falls.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Central Kalahari Game reserve
On your arrival at Maun Airport in Maun town, you will be met by our safari representative and travel for 4 hours to a game farm on the north eastern side of the Central Kalahari Game reserve. When you reach, set up a tented camp and have a safari briefing. In the afternoon, you will participate in a nature walk led by local Bushmen trackers. They will share their convoluted bush knowledge and give you an insight into their unique and captivating culture including food preparation, games and dancing. Overnight at the campsite

Days 2 & 5: Central Kalahari Game Reserve
You will wake up as the sun rises and enter the pristine wilderness of the largest game reserve in Botswana. The next four days will be exploring the undeveloped wilderness of the northern region of the Kalahari, moving from camp to camp. You will visit Passarge Valley and Deception Valley in your discovery of the Kalahari. You will observe the vast open spaces, clear night skies and uninterrupted beauty on game drives. Camping is in a designated campsite

Day 6: Return to Maun
After your final morning game drive in the Kalahari, you will return to Maun which is 5-6 hours drive from Central Kalahari. On your arrival, have a relaxation at the campsite. Overnight at the campsite

Days 7 & 8: Head to Okavango Delta
Have an early breakfast and be transferred for 4 hours from the north westerly direction of Maun to the western side of the Okavango Delta, a special corner of paradise. When you reach the edge of the Delta, you will transfer your equipment to motorboats and cruise along the narrow papyrus-lined channels, enjoying the exquisite birdlife of the region as well as the stunning landscape. Deeper in the Delta, you will meet the local polers with their traditional dugout canoes and enjoy a tranquil transfer to an island. You will spend two days exploring this beautiful area on canoe trips and taking guided walks on the islands and floodplains of the Okavango. Camping will be at the campsite.

Day 9: Re-route to Maun
You will retrace your route to Maun after being inspired by the beauty of Okavango delta. You may decide to return to Maun, by road OR take a scenic flight over the Delta back to Maun. This delightful experience provides another perspective of the Okavango Delta’s unique water system and if you choose to take the flight, you will enjoy a leisurely afternoon in the Delta campsite writing postcards or reading a book while you wait for your afternoon flight. On your arrival at the Maun airport, you will be transferred to maun campsite for an overnight.

Days 10 & 12: Arrive at Moremi Game Reserve
From Maun, you will drive through to Moremi Game Reserve, one of the best wilderness areas of Botswana which covers swamp and dry areas which will take you 6hours including the game drives. The next three days will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region. You will have game drives in the early morning as the sun rises and in the late afternoon as the sun sets. Overnight at the campsite

Days 13 & 15: Transfer to Chobe National Park
After breakfast, head to Chobe National Park, with its diverse and striking landscapes. On your arrival at the park, you will start a search for wildlife and also traverse the drier region of Savuti, where bull elephants disperse the plains. You will then head northwards to the Chobe River, where you will have game drives meandering along the banks of the river, followed by the call of the majestic African Fish Eagle. Overnight at the campsite

Days 16 & 17: Cross to Zambia
After a morning game drive in the Chobe Area, you will cross the Zambezi River by ferry and then drive to Livingstone on the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls, where you will spend the night at a comfortable lodge. In the afternoon, visit the roaring Victoria Falls. Overnight at the campsite and on the following day, carry out white water rafting down the Zambezi Gorge, Canoeing on the upper Zambezi, Elephant rides and Helicopter Flights over the Victoria Falls. Finally be transferred to Livingstone Airport to find your departure flight back home.
